About me
Morris Jonathan Becker was born on the 2. of September in 1982 in Duisburg, in the west part of Germany. He grew up in a social environment by having been surrounded by his mother, grandparents (maternal) and uncle (maternal). With the age of five he started playing the violin which accompanied him his whole life through. The push for this fantastic hobby was given by his grandparents (paternal) in particular his grandfather Helmut Vogel. Nearly throughout his entirely childhood, Morris was taught playing the violin by his grandfather.
With the age of seven, Morris started the Waldorf School. During this time he attended five short internships in the sectors: agriculture, health care, commercial and manufacturing. In addition to that, he spend half an year in Bristol (U.K.) and one month in Japan. In summer 2003 he graduated from high school by obtaining the “Abitur”.
After Morris has been exempted from military service, in October 2003, he began to study Geoscience as well as German Law in Tübingen at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. Already in the second semester he started focusing on Sediminetology and Petroleum Geology only. The study included several filed trips to Swiss and Italy. The private trip to Bolivia and Chile in March 2006 gave him an insight in how to get around with another culture. One semester faster than the standard period of study used to be, Morris Becker graduated in May 2006 with a first class degree which is also equivalent to an A-Level degree. Seamlessly, he started a two month lasting industry internship with Gaz de France Germany limited. Beside his study he used to play at the academic orchestra Tübingen which went on several tours such as Boston (U.S.A.) and Copenhagen (Denmark).
In October 2006, Morris Becker started studying at Imperial College London reading for a one year MSc in Petroleum Geoscience. Furthermore, he got an fully funded scholarship linked to the danish oil company DONG Energy. Accordingly, Morris wrote his MSc-Thesis with DONG Energy in Summer 2007 based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Casually, he was a member of the Imperial College Sinfonietta which is performing several concerts a year.
After his study he joined the Energy Company Wintershall Holding AG, BASF Group in Nov. 2008. Currently he is a part of the SPEAD-Trainee program. This will bring him around the globe, e.g. to Libya, Netherlands, Norway, Russia or Argentina.
Morris’ whole life has been affected by the religious imprint. During his youth he used to be a altar server in the roman catholic church. The given values were and are still very important to him. A highlight was the meeting with the Pope Johannes Paul II in Rom in 1997.
